Athletic Department Staff

Athletic Director – Roy Peters

Roy Peters - Athletic Director

Roy Peters earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and biology, as well as his Master’s Degree in Exceptional Education from Northeast Louisiana University.  Prior to relocating to Florida, Mr. Peters taught faithfully in the Louisiana School System for 16 years. Now in his 28th year with Orange County Public Schools, Mr. Peters’ experience includes teaching Physical Education, Biology, Exceptional Education, as well as coaching football, baseball, basketball, and tennis.  As an educator for Freedom since it’s inaugural year, Mr. Peters now serves as the Athletic Director, where his goal is to have passionate coaches in every sport who help student athletes accomplish their life goals.

 

Assistant Athletic Director – Jamie Schroeder

Jamie Schroeder Jamie Schroeder earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education at The University of Central Florida.  Ms. Schroeder is in her 9th year teaching at Freedom High School.  She has taught Geometry, Trigonometry and Financial Algebra. She currently teaches Advanced Placement Statistics and Math for College Readiness.  Her coaching experience includes Head Varsity Softball, Girls Wrestling and JV Boys Volleyball.  She is the 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year, Sophomore Class Sponsor and Assistant Athletic Director.  Ms. Schroeder wants to be able to help as many student athletes work to achieve their goals in the classroom and on the field.

 

 

Assistant Athletic Director – David Bush

David Bush

David Bush graduated from Limestone College with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Strength/Conditioning. David then completed his Master’s degree in Special Education from Converse College and his Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership from North Central University. David wrestled 197lbs for Limestone College and has been coaching wrestling for 8 years. This will be his 6th year coaching at Freedom.

In addition to his responsibilities to the Athletic Department, David Bush is an Administrative Dean and the Head Wrestling Coach at Freedom High School.

 

Athletic Administrative Assistant – Tawn Tooks

Tawn TooksTawn Tooks has been at Freedom High School since opening day in 2003.  Ms. Tooks has worked in the media center, guidance department and majority years in the discipline office. Ms. Tooks is a part of the coaching staff where she has coached flag football and bowling. Now that she is a part of the athletic department as the administrative assistant, she strives to assist the athletic department to work efficiently with staff and students and to help ensure the student athletes work and achieve their goals.  

 

 


Athletic Training Staff

Athletic Trainer – TeShondra Abner

Ms. Abner has been at Freedom High School since the schools opened in 2003. In 2010 she assumed the Head Athletic Trainer responsibilities as well as a teacher of Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries I and II.  Ms. Abner earned her BS degree in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina. After graduating from L-R Ms. Abner then perused a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology at the University of Central Florida. Currently, Ms. Abner is working on her Doctorate of Athletic Training at A.T. Still University.

Ms. Abner is a proud mother of a beautiful daughter named Zaria. Outside of school Ms. Abner likes to watch sports, playing outside with her daughter, and reading a good book.

Her professional memberships include the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Athletic Trainers’ Association of Florida.

 

Athletic Trainer – Tiffany Edwards

Mrs. Edwards has been at Freedom High School for 7 years now as the Assistant Athletic Trainer.  She is also the Science Department Chair and teacher of Biology and Anatomy & Physiology.  Mrs. Edwards earned her BS degree in Athletic Training from George Mason University in Fairfax,VA.  After graduating from GMU, Mrs. Edwards then pursued a Master’s of Science degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida.

Outside of school Mrs. Edwards likes to watch sports, go to the movies, and go for a nice long swim.

Her professional memberships include the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Athletic Trainers’ Association of Florida.
